Images of doors and windows fascinate me because they are interfaces between “outer” and “inner,” between known and unknown realms, through which we are enticed to enter a special space. There is the additional dynamic of an encapsulated culture’s interaction with the mainstream, the allure of an alternative realm, at once familiar and quite distinct.
